Penned by a former Audi and Bentley designer, the 007 is fitted with
Zeek's Golden Battery that supports charging speeds of up to 500 kW
Zeekr has started production of the all-electric
007 in China before
the first customer deliveries start on January 1, 2024.
The Geely-owned company has made quite a splash in recent years with the launch of its 001
sedan, the 009 MPV, and the X SUV, and with the 007 is venturing into the
luxury sedan market for the first time. Thanks in part to generous subsidies,
it remains very affordable in China, starting at the equivalent of just 229,900
yuan or roughly $32,000.
Leading the styling of the 007 was Zeekr head of
design Stefan Sielaff who has previously worked at Audi and Bentley. It has a
more traditional appearance than the 001 and X, both of which resemble Lynk
& Co models, another brand owned by Geely. Among the most intriguing parts
of the sedan’s design is the front fascia which houses thin LED headlights and
a full-width display that can be customized to display written messages. In the
first production model, this display fittingly reads ‘The 1st Zeekr
007.’
Car News China reports that customers can order the EV in one of six available
colors, consisting of Dawn Brown, Clear Sky Blue, Mist Silver, Misty Gray,
Bright Moon White, and Polar Night Black.
Two powertrains are available, although all 007
models are underpinned by an 800-volt high-voltage architecture. The
entry-level model has a single electric motor at the rear with 310 kW (415 hp)
and can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.4 seconds. Those seeking some extra punch
can opt for the all-wheel drive model with a combined 475 kW (637 hp), enough
to drop the 0-100 km/h time to 2.84 seconds.
Both variants use Zeekr’s trick Golden Battery, a lithium iron phosphate pack that can support charging speeds of up
to 500 kW, meaning 500 km (311 miles) of range can be added in just 15 minutes.
